In May 2022, I graduated with dual BSc degrees in Biology and Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University. As an undergraduate research assistant, I studied insect-inspired biomaterial production and specialized silk production in the Department of Chemical and Life Science Engineering and worked on projects related to tobacco hornworm parasitization in the Insect Ecology and Behavior Lab. After graduating, I studied trait-mediated responses to disturbance in tropical insects and plants as a post-baccalaureate researcher in the Biodiversity Research Lab at VCU, which grew my appreciation for ecological research in the context of an increasingly variable climate and further defined my research interests in the field of entomology.Now, I am passionate about insect ecology research, particularly with regard to climate change. I have just begun my PhD program in Entomology at Cornell University and am excited to develop a project that furthers understanding of shifting pest phenology in agricultural systems.
