As a sales associate for Ann Taylor Loft my primary responsibilities were driving sales, maintaining Loft merchandising standards and engaging with customers. I executed the price changes of merchandise every Monday morning with my store manager. I was given the responsibility of processing the store’s shipment and maintaining the standards in the back of the house. I processed 10-50 cartons of shipment two times per week by unpacking, steaming and strategically placing merchandise throughout the store. Because I was in charge of shipment, I was also placed on the visual merchandising team, which performed store sets two times per month.

During my senior year of college I was offered a position as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) leader for a general chemistry course. I delivered the material in a concise, structured manner by approaching topics in unique ways to accommodate each student’s individual needs. Speaking in front of 100-200 students led to a vast improvement in my public speaking skills and self-confidence. While I was there to teach students chemistry, I was also teaching them many life skills at a peer-inspired level.

During my junior and senior years of college I worked as a laboratory aide in the organic chemistry lab. I worked directly with the director of chemistry and biochemistry laboratories. I was responsible for preparing the chemicals and equipment for lab each day. After laboratory was completed, I managed the proper disposal and clean up of all of the chemicals used. I also handled confidential laboratory materials and department tests in the chemistry department office. During the summer of 2011, I was given the responsibility of overseeing all aspects of the organic chemistry laboratory.
