Serving young people in all spheres of education has been a lifelong pursuit of mine since my first "cadet teaching" experience as a senior in high school. I have enjoyed working with kids from South Korea to Egypt and from inner-city schools to prestigious private institutions. In my career, I have acted as a teacher, principal, church leader, workshop presenter, after-school tutor, camp program leader, trainer, school credentialing member, and communications director. The value I want to help students grow the most is service. I am proud of the opportunities I have helped create for students all over the world to engage in meaningful service in order to improve their communities. By authoring my own service-learning curriculum and leading a campus-wide service week, I have seen the transformation that can happen when young people look to be a positive influence in their neighborhoods. I am a PreK-8 certified teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Bethel College (IN) and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa. I hold teaching licenses in California, Virginia, and Indiana. I spent the last 8 years (2014-22) in Cairo, Egypt working as a 5th and 8th-grade teacher and the middle school Assistant Principal and Head Principal. Presently (2023) I am a freelance presenter and trainer for social-emotional learning leader Character Strong.
