Caleb has a keen focus on preventing young people from youth violence and exploitation. All young people must succeed and he is motivated to remove barriers to helping young people by enabling change. This means leveraging young people’s voices to enable stakeholders (wide and varied) to work together in a public health approach for child centred outcomes. People or organisations who have expertise around Youth Work are core to the long-term solutions to reduce youth violence and exploitation. Caleb’s mission is to create meaningful legacy work, that improves young people’s lives, by enabling partners and partnerships who share these same values. He has a flare for innovation and finding solutions using charisma, knowledge, expertise and strong leadership to enable success.Caleb has worked with young people since the age of 16. Primarily he began working with young people as a volunteer coach in the sporting sector. The first experience of youth violence leading to a fatality took place outside the school gates. Head Teacher Phillip Lawrence took prompt action to protect a pupil that was being attacked by a group that were not pupils. In his duty to protect a pupil, Mr Lawrence sadly lost his life taught and is still fondly remembered today. In summary Caleb grew up in an area where the visibility of Youth Violence was real. Sadly, this is one of many stories that we hear too often and has continued nationally amongst young people. Much is being done and much to do!Caleb spent a decade at Enthusiasm Trust, joining as a University placement through the Youth Work and Community degree programme at University of Derby. Here he would learn and live out the principles of working on the margins with marginalised young people. Mentoring young people who were issued Threat To Life letters and were involved in gangs.Working alongside the Founder at Enthusiasm, a new chapter opened called the Get Connected programme. The programme mobilised stakeholders to deliver a public health approach model. It enabled partnership or commissioned work with The Home Office, VRU's, Police Forces, Public Health, Educational leads and Community organisations or Community Leads. He is able to straddle strategic and operational functions, has a wealth of knowledge and experience, shifting mindsets in order to create positive change by safeguarding Young People from youth violence, county lines, gangs and exploitation. He is now part of the Youth Endowment Fund, utilising his skills in a national role to prevent young people from getting caught up in crime and violence.
