Caleb Jacobs is a screen composer, music producer, songwriter and sound professional. He has deep roots in the Sydney music scene, where he cut his teeth as a guitarist, leaning into distorted amps in search of new sounds. He carries that spirit with him in the studio.From his earlier DIY home recordings as Plum to his slicker, late-night electronic musings as Cale, Caleb has shared airwaves and stages with revered artists, earning praise along the way from groups such as Rüfüs du Sol and tastemakers like Rolling Stone, triple j, MTV and Rage. He's collaborated with locally celebrated artists like Babitha, Isabella Manfredi, Moody Beach and Richard Cuthbert.Caleb's love of storytelling through music naturally transitioned him into writing scores and creating music for film and TV, graduating from AFTRS in 2015. Coming from a music producer background, Caleb's composition style distinctively combines acoustic instrumentation with modern technology to create expansive scores filled with guitars, keyboards, woodwinds, strings, and various percussive and electronic elements. He favours a minimalist approach to scoring film and TV, drawing inspiration from a deep love of worldwide cinema and music from cultures across the globe.Notable credits include The Longest Weekend (2022), Plan B (2021), For the Love of Pets (2022) and The Summit (2023). In 2023, Caleb composed an audio brand mnemonic for Mitsubishi Electric's 'A Life More Electric' campaign alongside a commercial score.Caleb is an AACTA-accredited composer and a proud member of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC). He believes in the power of music as a storytelling medium that transcends language, creating connections beyond words, and thrives on bringing the creative visions of fellow artists to life.
