Plans and implements Compassion's global security programs. Provides leadership, training, and direction to staff and leaders throughout the organization. Provides risk mitigation analysis and guidance on general and specific international security and safety programs and current risks to Compassion interests. Maintains a strong, functional, problem-solving oriented and relationship-based consulting network inside and outside the organization to best serve and advise Compassion stakeholders in security matters both domestically and globally. Coaches and oversees the work of other specialists and related staff• Develops and implements security programs by region, exercising excellent professional judgment and advising the organization on threat assessments, security and safety procedures, and risk mitigation options.• Evaluates security and safety aspects of tours, employee travel, and field office procedures, ensuring sound practices and sound decision. Conducts safety and security inspections in the field for Compassion facilities and implements security and safety practices and training regarding situational awareness, crisis prevention, crisis management and response, threat scenario action steps, evacuation strategies, proper reporting procedures, and other security protocols.• Serves as a leader and may direct the response to emergency situations involving accidents, injury, hazardous materials, or fire and smoke incidents. Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting insecure or unsafe conditions and actions.• Studies and filters threat development information daily and researches the specific security-relevant geopolitical, social, and environmental issues of interest to Compassion programs.• Frequently coaches, provides expertise, and oversees the work of other professionals and support staff in the department or division

International

The international Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) program is committed to meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease, and natural disaster. The team is ready to respond at a moment’s notice whenever and wherever disaster strikes. The DART specializes in providing access to clean water, adequate food, shelter supplies or structures, and medical care. Each disaster is unique in size and complexity, therefore the mandated objectives of each response will vary according to the observed needs.

1. Develop and implement the Organisational Security Strategy to guide the management of security across the organisation2. Build Capacity and provide Technical Training for staff, students and clients/customers in security matters to empower them with skills needed to mitigate risks in the workplace against both their persons and organisation property 3. Network and External Liaison/Engagement to build relationships with external government agencies4. Develop and Implement the Organisational Security Risk Management Strategy to identify security risks to the organisation and devise interventions5. Management of the Hired Security Services Contract to provide a safe and secure environment to enhance smooth execution of the organisation business 6. Administration of the security department to achieve the departmental objectives7. Develop Quality Security Management Systems to meet the requirements for ISO 9001:2015 for the organisation.

Uganda

1. Implement the National Office security strategy in alignment with WV security policy so as to ensure the operational priorities of the WVU West Nile Programmes are appropriately supported.2. Ensure Security Risk Assessments, and Core Security Requirement standards,processes and procedures are completed in accordance with current Office of Corporate Security guidelines and training 3. Provide leadership/ management of the security focal persons in the West Nile Region.4. Provide support and coordination to the National Safety and Compliance Officer as requested.5. Work with the National Director/Country Security Manager to carry out Security Risk Assessments as required/directed.6. Country Risk Ratings are established and updated as required7. Ensure Core Security Requirements are implemented in line with Country Risk Ratings8. Provide input and support to management in crisis situations and critical incidents9. Conduct security investigations when required.10. Represent WV at local NGO security network meetings and ensure information from these groups is disseminated to relevant staff. 11. Build ongoing networks for sharing security information and coordination in the Region.12. Coordinate the assessment, development and implementation of the WVU West Nile capacity building plan for security management based on local security risk assessments.13. Develop a culture of security awareness and monitor staff compliance in the region.14. Ensure that all security incidents are reported in accordance with WV Security Policy.15. Collect, analyze and disseminate security information appropriately.

Direct Investigation: I investigate allegations of property grabbing made by alleged victims and referral sources, Collect witness statements, documents, photographs, and other relevant evidence. I also conduct surveillance and undercover operations in support of investigations, recruit, train and manage contract-based investigative informants and operatives. I track case related data in paper and electronic case tracking and management systems and record the complainants’ reports/complaints-intakes.Police Empowerment: I assist victims in filing with the police appropriate criminal complaints, encourage and support police investigations of complainants made by IJM-assisted victims, liaise with police and other public justice system officials to identify victims of property grabbing, and assist police in carrying out lawful and appropriate arrests of property grabbing perpetrators.Team Support: I provide security support for IJM- sponsored mediations, events and meetings. I cooperate with IJM Aftercare specialists in identifying psychosocial needs of victims, provide information to IJM training teams to develop proper police training resources among other tasks.

As a security officer, I was charged with maintaining a crime free community by detecting and mitigating criminal tendencies, access controls, intelligence gathering and implementation of safety and security policies and guidelines as would be given by the University Secretary and Chief Security Officer.
