Lead programs and operations to deliver on Rare’s organizational mission of inspiring change so people and nature thrive. Rare’s programs in fisheries, regenerative agriculture, climate and the science of behavior change have delivered people and community centered solutions across 60 countries. Rare focuses on equity, communities and the power of individuals to deliver solutions at scale.  Lead on the development and execution of Rare’s strategy and organizational governance In partnership with Rare’s CEO. Prior to joining Rare, Caleb served as a Vice President with WCS' Global Conservation Program across oceans, climate, health, livelihoods, and WCS’ core global strategy to conserve Nature’s Strongholds – the planet’s last remaining intact and biodiverse places. Over his career at WCS, Caleb lead a range of partnerships and launched a range of new initiatives including the Local Conservation Partners Fund, End the Trade, Wild For All, 50 Reefs/Vibrant Oceans, the Shark Conservation Fund and The MPA Fund.

Caleb also served as Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University’s School of Public and International Affairs, and serves as board member of the Woods Hole Sea Education Association, an advisor to the New England Aquarium Marine Conservation Action Fund, and a board member of the Great Barrier Reef Foundation's Resilient Reefs Project. Caleb previously served for over 8 years as the Executive Director of WCS' Marine Conservation portfolio, quadrupling its size and impact. He has spent over ten years at sea and abroad as an Environmental Advisor to the Republic of the Marshall Islands, a GIS analyst and marine scientist with Woods Hole Sea Education Association. Caleb holds an undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in Environmental Studies and Geography and a master’s and PhD from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in International Environmental Policy and Development Economics.

Support and lead WCS' cross cutting initiatives to tackle the challenges of oceans, climate, livelihoods and markets. Represent WCS' portfolio of global solutions to those issues that transcend any individual country or continent. Provide leadership in WCS' efforts to build strategic multi-institutional partnerships with NGOs, companies, and philanthropy to impact beyond the footprint of WCS' 3000+ staff in 60 countries world-wide.

Directed WCS’ global marine conservation efforts to improve fisheries management and establish effective marine reserves to conserve some of the world’s most important marine biodiversity. WCS employs several hundred marine conservationists around the globe to innovate solutions and deliver long term transformative change to the current downward trajectory of our oceans. Globally, WCS has designed a portfolio of marine programs in the waters of 24 countries across all five oceans to safeguard some of the oceans most threatened and vulnerable marine species and ecosystems, including its coral reefs, sharks and rays and marine mammals. These efforts additionally leverage the WCS New York Aquarium to build a broader and deeper public understanding of, and political commitment to, the oceans.

Helped lead design and conservation strategy for the Shark Conservation fund in its design and pre-launch phase. The funding collaborative of 6 philanthropies has to date funded dozens of projects to scale up shark and ray conservation throughout the world's oceans. www.sharkconservationfund.org

Assisted and Coordinated development of Coastal Management Advisory Committee(CMAC), local community based management plans, redefinition of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) Exclusive Economic Zone and maritime boundaries with the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru and Kiribats, and the construction of the first comprehensive national GIS database for the Marshall Islands.

Developed National Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan, Resource Management Plans for four Atolls, and implemented various regulatory instruments— Environmental Impact Assessment, Development Regulations—to further sustainable development goals of the RMI.

Assisted instruction of courses in oceanography and ran onboard marine science laboratory aboard research vessels in the western Atlantic and Pacific Ocean conducting biological, physical, chemical and geological oceanographic research.

Managed Geographic Information Systems laboratory and aided GIS and Cartography classes. GIS development, programming and processing for network and land-use applications for SweetWater Trust and regional telephone network analysis.
