I currently underwrite new and renewable business specifically within our Construction Casualty group. As an underwriter, I will work on complex accounts across Auto, GL, WC, and lead Umbrella lines of business, as well as Wrap-Ups (CCIPs and OCIPs). This includes Guaranteed Cost and Loss Sensitive account structures. As a Team Lead, I assist in the development and mentoring of team members. This includes participating in monthly 1:1 discussions, training and resources, fielding questions on coverages, rates, and accounts, among other things.

Build and manage a book of business for Inland Marine and related Property business. Develop and manage agent and broker relationships within a territory. Review, negotiate, or decline risks on behalf of Aspen. Assist in steering the team to develop new business in line with the annual divisional underwriting business plan. Assist in the management of the team providing support and coaching to develop and maximize individual potential.

After successfully completing the Underwriting Training Program, I now administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, abide by insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules. I can quickly identify and calculate the potential risk of loss from policyholders while establishing appropriate premium rates while following internal guidelines. My duties also include underwriting Property, Inland Marine, and Builders Risk lines of business, analyzing new and renewal business, utilizing a set underwriting framework and within delegated authority levels. Developing and maintaining relationships in support of business retention and acquisition and working directly with customers to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions. Finally, my core deliverables rely on delivering service to external clients and/or customers. This typically involves building relationships and promoting the company through external broker partners.

After successfully completing the Zurich Underwriting Training Program, I was assigned back to field underwriting under direct supervision. My responsibilities included, but not limited to, learning the Zurich Way of Underwriting, building relationships internally and with our external broker partners, reviewing Builders Risk projects, thoroughly underwriting Construction-related Property and other Inland Marine risks.
