Caleb John is a first-class penultimate year student of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria with an interest in energy, leadership and data.He currently serves as the head of research and journals for the Energy Club, University of Ibadan, where he coordinates the research activities of the club and publishes energy articles.Caleb is an alumnus of the Strategy for Mentoring Initiative and Leadership Empowerment (S.M.I.L.E.) Executive Mentoring Program for Youths (EMPY), where he acquired needed leadership skills and career mentorship.He was part of the 2023 United Nations Millennium Fellowship program, where he executed a social impact project he themed "EcoEnlighten," reaching out to over 300 high school students with the message of environmental sustainability in line with SDG 13.Being academically excellent, Caleb was part of the most prestigious undergraduate scholars program in Nigeria, the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) scholars program of the 2024 class, with an acceptance rate of 9.1%. He joined 99 other brilliant students from NHEF's partner universities for a week-long orientation touching different career topics and necessary career exposure.He is a 2024 recipient of the most prestigious Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) undergraduate scholarship in Nigeria—the Dr. Olumide Philips Scholarship, awarded to five outstanding petroleum engineering students in Nigeria. He got the award for the SPE Lagos section and was ranked second in Nigeria.Caleb is currently an intern at SLB where he supports in the well construction department.He enjoys mentoring young undergraduate students, particularly first-year students, attending career development events, public speaking, and research.
