“What do you want to be when you grow up?” was a question that I honestly couldn’t answer as a kid. I loved studying World War II history and was fascinated by nature, spending much of my playtime exploring forests and parks. These interests didn’t give me an easy answer that I want to be a doctor, lawyer or astronaut or really anything at all. Entering college with an “undeclared major,” I completed the required courses fitting in history and environmental classes as much as I could simply because I enjoyed them the most. Through taking these courses, my professors taught me the value of skills and knowledge gained from my studies. It was exciting to realize that my strengths and interests were applicable skill sets in many careers.As a recent college graduate with a degree in History and Environmental Studies, I am grateful for those who have inspired me to follow my passions. This has allowed me to enter a new stage in life with confidence in my skills of critical thinking, writing, research, and knowledge of world history and environmental studies. More so, I have also learned that I love coordination and communication with others relating to my research. Interpreting historical and regulatory documents so that it can reach a wider audience is an important skill set that I have achieved. My skills in critical thinking have made me a detail oriented person through my research. I love finding the smaller details that affect the bigger picture. As I search for a career, I am excited about the variety of jobs that require my skills and strengths. I can’t wait to see where I can have a positive impact!
