Creating the first interdisciplinary dual language curriculum PreK-6, for content-literacy learning that is beautifully bilingüe, engagingly interdisciplinary, science of biliteracy-aligned, and culturally sustaining by design

Mayi Mava is the only intra-African exchange program connecting teens across anglophone-francophone borders for language learning, cultural exploration, and personal growth. Since 2013, we have supported Beninois secondary and college students in short-term (summer) and long-term (1-2 year) cultural exchange and language learning experiences in northern Ghana.

Coaching novice (pre-service) teachers on learning science-informed instructional practice through an equity lens.

Providing targeted, data-informed intervention support to striving multilingual learners in 1st and 2nd Grade Spanish and English literacy and math.

Co-facilitating network of 4 teacher preparation programs to engage in sustained coursework and clinical program redesign, grounded in the intersection of cognitive science and culturally sustaining pedagogies. Developing curricular materials to scaffold and align instruction across teacher candidates' preparation experiences and coursework. Designing and facilitating professional learning for network faculty and supporting programmatic change through ongoing coaching.

Developed content-rich literacy curricula, taught all subjects to 4th grade. Students scored highest in Bay Area region in 5th grade entry testing. Developed and taught Spanish-immersion 8th Grade US history and 6th -8th Grade English as a Second Language curricula. Initiated regular intervisitations with colleagues to develop and hone my teaching practice and support grade-team alignment.

Selected as member of Yale-based network of researchers and practitioners in the child development and education space. Conducted independent qualitative school research on primary school classrooms in Mexico and Dominican Republic.

Supported the development of new research in the education sector for IPA's global programs, including coordination with leading researchers and IPA leadership, and the development of research proposals for major donors. Also supported the implementation of qualitative research on early childhood education preferences in Ghana.

Collaborated on ground level management of a national-scale impact evaluation, supervising over 120 staff across northern and central Ghana during peak survey periods and 2-5 full time staff. Was also project lead for test development and contributed to honing of research design and instruments. The study measured the effects of a remedial education program run in collaboration with Ghana Education Service.

Served on team of internal "consultants" for Pratham’s nation-wide education programs, reviewing ground-level activities and providing feedback, developing frameworks for future activities and monitoring.

Worked as an individual writing coach at campus Writing Center, providing feedback and instruction on academic and other non-fiction writing for Yale undergraduates.
