For over 30 years I have worked in the field of air transport and the environment initially at Manchester Airport (MA), since 1998 as Professor of Sustainable Aviation at the Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) and most recently as Director of Callum Thomas Limited.Over this time I have established an international reputation with Governments, industry and in academia. I provide expertise, consultancy, research and training linked to aviation environment and sustainability issues from an operational and strategic perspective. I have been advisor to the EC, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the UK Government including the U.K. Airports Commission, established to consider the siting of a new runway in SE England. I have appeared as a witness before the UK Parliament Transport Select Committee and the Committee on Transport and Tourism of the European Parliament. I sat as a member of the Airports Council International World Environment Standing Committee and was Chair of the ACI EUROPE Environmental Policy Committee.Following my retirement from the Chair of Sustainable Aviation at Manchester Met University I was appointed Professor Emeritus in recognition of my expertise in my field and contribution to the development of the University.
