With the emergence of the climate emergency I have developed an interest of how structural engineers can play their part in reducing the carbon emissions of the built environment. I am keen to be part of the change the industry needs to make and have worked to create “Green Goodsons”, a company wide initiative to promote the reduction of embodied carbon (EC) in our projects. As signatories of Structural Engineers Declare, we have committed to reducing the EC of our projects by 50% by 2030. We have also undertake a a range of B2B presentations to promote this and create discussion and debate around the topic.I have 10 years of experience as a Structural Engineer working on a broad range of projects. I can use this experience to work with design teams and clients to create efficient structural designs that balance the architectural, commercial and sustainability components of a project. This is always with a focus of providing practical buildable solutions to schemes.
