Regional President of the YCW in Billingham (registered charity number 306149). The YCW is a national charity ran by, and for, young people. I decided to set up a regional group in Billingham to try and help people within our local community. We have helped to raise thousands of pounds for northeast charities including the DePaul Society which works to tackle youth homelessness and Mind, a mental health charity. We also collect food for our local food bank, managing to donate over 1000kg of food to the Russell Trust foodbank in Billingham.My role as president has enabled me to develop administration and leadership skills. I also supported the national body of the YCW and was part of a team that ran a campaign aimed to help young people who suffer from mental health issues. In 2019 I travelled to Porto in Portugal to be part of the European Commission of the ICYCW representing England and Wales. It was a gathering of young people from all over Europe to share their experiences of working life, including their concerns about the future of work for our generation because of the growth of automation, robotics and artificial intelligence. Our opinions were reported upon and sent to every national government across Europe in order to help tackle issues young people face today in the world of work.
