Responsibilities as TPM instructor of these areas were to: drive the implementation of AM Step 3; engage operators, artisans and the area unit manager to identify problems; use cause-and-effect diagrams, root cause analysis (i.e. the ‘fishbone’ diagram, ‘why-why’) and problem solving techniques to solve the problems identified; communicate progress of any TPM-related activity to functional managers, unit managers and shift leaders during mid-morning meetings held daily.
