I lead the Staten Island crew in the collection of data for the Forest Ecological Assessment, a decennial project that measures the status and health of New York City’s forested landscapes. Data included species identification from ground cover to overstory level, tree azimuth and distance, tree size and health, soil composition, coarse woody volume, leaf litter depth, and invasive pressures among others

I led public and private volunteer events across all five boroughs. Our team scouted, plans, and executes fall and spring planting events, street tree care, forest restoration, invasive removals, salt marsh restoration, and trail maintenance.

Yosemite National Park

I was a member of the Invasives crew, leading Yosemite's efforts in novel invasive removals from the park. We worked on herbaceous and woody plants using chemical, physical, and cultural methods. Species included Black Locust, Yellow Star Thistle, Himalayan Blackberry, and Saint John's Wort among others.

Craters Of The Moon National Monument

I worked with an Idaho based team that conducted a variety of vegetative control, restoration, monitoring, and propagation programs across the Pacific-West Region using a combination of cultural, mechanical, and chemical field techniques along with data management techniques using ArcGIS, Avenza Maps, and Microsoft Suite.

I worked with the Shinnecock Nation of Long Island to document and preserve the plant species on their reservation and the ethnobotanical traditions of the Nation. Through interviews, habitat delineation, floristic surveys, and data analysis, we hope to create a better understanding of how useful plants are distributed across ecological habitats so that important habitats can be earmarked for conservation and used as restoration target landscapes.

I worked on the NSF Collaborative Research REU "Plant, Fungal and Linguistic Diversity of Tafea Province, Vanuatu" under the direction of linguist Dr. David Harrison. I helped transcribe field notes for digitization, processed incoming specimens from the field, and helped create multiple native language talking dictionaries that preserved indigenous knowledge. I am the co-author of the Raga Talking Dictionary and the Botanical Consultant for the Newai Talking Dictionary and the Nafe (Kwamera) Talking Dictionary.

For three summers, I lived and worked on the City of Boulder's Watershed. As the leader of the crew, we managed and maintained 10 square miles of privately owned city forest on the Continental Divide that contains five reservoirs that collectively supply over 1/3 of the city's drinking water. We worked with engineers and local firefighters to maintain both the infrastructure and forest ecosystems to maintain water quality and flow.

We started a community organization to assist local businesses that were hit hard due to COVID-19 restrictions by hosting gift cards that locals could pre-purchase at discounted rates. I was involved heavily on the marketing side of the business: onboarded each business profile onto the website, had direct contact with each business to decide which model best suited their bottom line and business strategy, handled customer experience and order fulfillment, and helped advertise to customers.

I worked on the NSF Collaborative Research REU, "Evolution and Systematics of the Neotropical Clade of Schefflera (Araliaceae)." I directly handled and analyzed thousands of leaf specimens, all in the goal of reconstructing the Schefflera phylogeny to fit the DNA record. My responsibilities included DNA extraction, PCR sequencing, gel electrolysis, data analysis, and phylogeny construction.

For two summers, I worked on conservation and trail crews across the Open Spaces and Mountain Parks of Boulder. We created and managed local trail systems, mitigated invasive species, restored riparian ecosystems, constructed raptor perches, and led public forums on the role of Open Space.
