Working in partnership with the City of Saint Paul’s Great River Passage Initiative, the Great River Passage Conservancy leads advocacy and private fundraising efforts for capital projects along Saint Paul’s 17 miles of the Mississippi River. By advancing major projects along the Mississippi River that allow people to experience the river in new ways, the Great River Passage Conservancy fosters environmental stewardship, community health and economic development.

As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, provided business-oriented and politically-savvy legal advice to corporate leadership and the board of commissioners. Advised the board and served as parliamentarian during public meetings. Represented the Commission’s interests before politicians and corporate executives with nuanced diplomacy. Re-organized and led the Legal Affairs Department, fulfilling its mission to deliver reliable, timely, actionable legal advice to all levels of the organization. Cost-effectively managed approximately 20 outside counsel firms, local and national. Consistently challenged outmoded perspectives and methods with demonstrated success in consensus-building and change management. Influential advocate for numerous priorities including strategic planning, employee engagement, sustainability, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Championed and led development and implementation of numerous initiatives, including an enterprise data retention plan, electronic data management strategy and cyber incident preparedness plan, each an organizational first.Recipient of Minnesota Lawyer's In-house Counsel 2020 recognition.

Delivered efficient and actionable legal and business advice in support of organizational strategic goals across virtually all facets of the Commission’s operations. Advocated in adversarial proceedings, including successful defenses of claims in state court and federal administrative fora. Lead negotiations and document drafting for high-profile projects including all MSP concessions, new hotel development, and the then-largest solar facility in the state. Chaired the Wellness Committee.
