The team I lead is at the forefront of enhancing quality across a diverse array of project sites and workshops within North and South America. Our role encompasses a spectrum of responsibilities covering quality assurance, quality control, quality management, and continuous improvement. As a team of dreamers, disruptors, and influencers within the global quality community, we are driving global standardization, digital transformation, and advanced analytics using AI.

In addition to QEHS department responsibilities, role expanded to include supply chain management, customer service, and export compliance.Supply chain management team functions included direct/indirect purchasing, warehouse, and logistics. The team focused on the following:- Relationships with our suppliers to aid them in improving supplier quality and on-time delivery- Efficient storage and flow of parts/equipment through the warehouse and maintaining inventory levels- On-time delivery to our customersCustomer service team functions included sales order processing and customer experience management (CEM). Team goals focused on the following:- Maintaining good relationships with our customers- Active communication with our customers to ensure they are aware of the status of their orders- Efficient processing and submission of sales orders to the purchasing teamExport compliance team function was to ensure company met all regulatory compliance requirements related to exports, physical and informational.

As lead for Quality Assurance, provided oversight and guidance to our teams in support of our QEHS Management Systems and ISO 9001/14001/45001 certifications.As lead for Quality Management, supported our teams both proactively (CI through LEAN/Six Sigma) and reactivity (RCA). Similar to my previous roles (see work history), CI was the desired Quality Management strategy and the same tools/techniques were utilized to ensure we were proactive.

Led a company-wide effort to mine, transform, visualize, and analyze big data for quality using artificial intelligence (AI). The intent was to create a comprehensive, centralized data mart for pre-mined data and a web-based dashboard that provided a simple interface for the user to research drivers and performance trends. Additionally, the AI freed-up our management teams from mining data for reports/metrics and allowed them to redirect their energy towards attacking causes for top drivers. The development of the product was completely organic. Our strong partnerships with Divisional Leadership, IT, and Modeling and Simulation, were critical to the evolution of this effort from a pilot into a new companywide business architecture that included Safety, Cost, and Schedule.

Managed surface and volumetric non-destructive testing for piping and structure welds on Naval Aircraft Carriers and Submarines. Helped launch new, standardize processes to drive accountability, improve quality, and increase customer satisfaction. Established personal connections with team members to gain a candid view of the issues that required action. Formed a alliance with the welding community that improved quality and reduced overall rework for welding and non-destructive testing. Teamed with iDS management in the digital transformation effort as one of the early leads for the Inspection Division.

Responsible for Quality Management of kitting, pre-cleaning, machining, fabrication, welding, post-cleaning, and inspection processes in our Detail, Assembly, and Nuclear Pipe Shops. In support of our Quality Management goals/targets, utilized both reactive (RCA) and proactive (CI through LEAN/Six Sigma) Quality Management tools. During CI efforts, we used value stream mapping to capture and visualize our current state and envision our future state for our “perceived” problematic flows. We also developed new digital data acquisition strategies to allow us to establish a baseline for performance, establish targets, and develop performance metrics. Transparent, fact-based metrics are an amazing strategy for convincing the change adverse change is necessary. Without transparency, perception is reality.

Privileged to take part in a rotation that allowed me to represent the piping design program as a fabrication supervisor in the pipe shop. Successfully motivated a crew of fabricators to improve their quality and increase their output. Gained the perspective of the fabricators and learned from them how to manufacture a great product. Developed a heightened awareness of how material and design positively and negatively affect manufacturing.

Allowed the opportunity to take part in a waterfront support engineering rotation. Represented the engineering community as the liaison for pipe manufacturing. Formed strong partnerships within the value stream that resulted in decreased turn-around-time for my customers. Co-created a knowledge management process to capture reoccurring issues and mitigate rework.

Quickly learned the skills needed to become an asset to the department and achieved system lead status. Fostered a reputation for having a strong ability to interpret specifications, perform calculations, and analyze data. Standardized multiple calculation processes to reduce cycle time for future work. Achieved success developing, managing, and issuing system diagrams on time and under budget.

Chosen by management to be the test lead for all weapons handling systems on overhaul and new construction carriers. Drew upon my strengths for technical writing to create test procedures that were easily understood by the user. Quickly earned the respect of the Mechanics responsible for the equipment. Gained valuable submarine experience when chosen to support testing on the 1st , NNS Virginia Class Submarine.

Gained success as an out-of-the- box thinker who thrived in a fast paced sales engineering department. Learned how to effectively communicate with my sales representatives to determine their needs and provide them with a product they could easily sell to the customer. Developed several new designs for our customers that gained substantial profit for the company.
