Refactored our React search UI to reflect new best practices, utilize components from our new design system, and pave the way to make it easier to add new functionality. Features of this refactor included adding much needed unit tests to replace manual testing; a new design paradigm that made it trivial to add new functionality to search such as bulk import, event union, and in-situ Element definition configuration; and built-in feature flagging for testing out new designs. Built navigational search into FullStory's Omnisearch feature. Required modernizing existing code from legacy frontend framework to react as well as some foundational work that assisted in the search UI refactor. Built an internal tool that was used during code review to allow testing frontend static assets that were built in CI. This drastically improved the ergonomics of frontend code reviews by allowing engineers, product manager, and designers to see and interact with the changes in our staging environment before the code was merged. The estimated time saving per engineer was greater than 5 hours a week due to not needing to checkout and build the UI to test locally.Made significant updates to an open source project that interfaced with FullStory's export API to use the a new API while maintaining backwards compatibility with existing workflows. Made a number of improvements such as end-to-end testing and release binaries to improve both developer and user experiences.

Led design and development of a distributed search data extraction service, utilizing Google Pub/Sub for task queuing, Zookeeper for distributed work coordination and management, and Cloud Storage for the final destination. This service supported our next generation of exports at FullStory called Search/Segment Export which had both an API and application interface.Designed and built a webhook subscription service which worked in coordination with our webhook delivery service to efficiently match and emit webhooks to external subscribers.Developed React frontends for both of the above features, contributing new components to our internal component library and improving our client to backend gRPC patterns.Assisted in moving distributed access of a single database model behind an RPC interface to provide a clearer contract for the underlying data through protocol buffer definitions. Required refactoring important API handler flows such as authentication, password management, and seat management.

Worked with a diverse set of technologies including radio frequency (RF) hardware development, reconfigurable antennas, RF antenna measurements, acoustic signature analysis, and digital signal processing.Lead software efforts for all aspects of reconfigurable antenna technology, from embedded C code on a distributed network of micro controllers to full-stack web development of end-user applications. Developed a number of software libraries that are used in our lab for measurement automation and data analysis utilizing network analyzers, motorized positioners, and various other devices.Helped in updating software infrastructure by implementing continuous integration/continuous deployment in GitLab to test and release software that follows semantic versioning practices. Through CI/CD, we established a practice of deploying packaged python software and documentation to internally hosted web servers enabling easier collaboration across the lab.

As a student researcher at GTRI, I supported research efforts through mechanical design, developing measurement automation software, and working with RF hardware to provide solutions to challenging problems in electro-magnetics.Through this work as a student, I found that I excelled at mediation between electrical, mechanical, and software requirements of our work products. I was able to not only do what was asked of me, but to also redirect and improve the overall design of a system because of my intuitive mechanical senses and my ability to see many perspectives.Some specific successes in this role included the mechanical design of an antenna that was flown in the nose of an aircraft as a demonstration of reconfigurable antenna technology, an application that performed real-time optimization of RF signals, and improvement of an internal Visual Studio based RF measurement application.
