I worked under Professor Elena Dimitrova at Cal Poly to prove the intersection of all basic staircases is equal to the intersection of all initial staircases as bases of a Stanley-Reisner Ring formed by the quotient of a multivariate polynomial ring over a finite field and an ideal generated from an affine variety taken from that field. (I later showed this is false in general but is true over the field containing 2 elements.)

I worked on the research grant at the link below under Professor Elena Dimitrova at Cal Poly. I along with 2 other graduate students found a necessary condition for the existence of a unique reduced Grobner basis of an ideal generated from an affine variety in a multivariate polynomial ring with respect to a finite field.

I worked on the unsolved question of the faithfulness of the Burau Representation of the 4­ strand braid group, with 2 other students, under Professor Anton Kaul. I used a full year of abstract algebra courses and Mathematica to work on this question.

I worked with a group of 3 other mathematics students under Professor Mark Stankus to recreate Dr. Geoffrey Hinton’s 2017 paper on Dynamic Routing Between Capsules. We coded a capsule network in TensorFlow to classify overlapping handwritten digits to 99+% accuracy. Also spent Fall quarter understanding LSTM's via text generation, variational auto-encoders, and generative adversarial networks (GAN's).
