Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, I am a 29-year-old dual-qualified lawyer in both New York and Scotland. After completing five years of legal education at the University of Aberdeen School of Law (LLB 2014-2018; DPLP 2018-2019) - followed by a two-year training contract as a Trainee Solicitor at Stronachs LLP (2019-2021) - I was officially admitted as a Scottish Solicitor and Notary Public in September 2021.Courtesy of a scholarship, I moved to the USA in August 2021 to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. The LLM specifically focused on:- International Commercial Law & Dispute Resolution; and- US Business & Entrepreneurial Law.I graduated the following year in May 2022. Shortly after graduating, I began a one-year judicial clerkship for the Honorable Andrew F. Szefi at the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas (Civil Division) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My clerkship ended in July 2023 upon expiration of my F-1 visa.In April 2023, I received news that I had passed the New York bar examination - which I sat on February 21-22, 2023. I was one of only 34% of foreign lawyers to have passed that administration’s exam and I did so whilst working full-time. I was officially admitted as a New York attorney in June 2023.As of October 2023, I am currently working as an Associate at Block O’Toole & Murphy LLP (BOM) - one of New York City’s premier personal injury law firms. Since joining BOM, I have amassed almost $1.5 million dollars in personal injury settlements as handling attorney.
