About Cameron Wilkinson

Technology reshapes everything in our lives: how we connect, how we think, how we engage with the world. But at what cost? As a writer, I explore the profound impact technology has on human relationships and our society’s core values. My mission is simple: to craft stories that inspire connection, encourage reflection, and reignite our sense of agency in a world dominated by screens and algorithms. I was a late bloomer. In a family where my brother set the pace with early achievements, I stumbled upon my own passion at seven, thanks to a family friend who taught me to draw. That spark became a path: learning to create, crafting narratives that went beyond just pictures. Soon, I realized that storytelling had a unique power. Whether working as a martial arts instructor, a substitute teacher, or now a copywriter, I’ve witnessed firsthand the effect of stories - they bridge gaps, spark reflection, and even shift perspectives.Today, my stories are inspired by my love for classic tales like The Giving Tree and Chronicles of Narnia. These stories don’t just entertain; they linger in the mind, offering lessons that resonate across generations. My goal is to bring families together through narratives that capture universal truths about our changing world, emphasizing what really matters: family, community, and reclaiming our power from technology. My biggest inspiration remains my own childhood—filled with moments of genuine connection, laughter, and values instilled by parents who prioritized presence over perfection. Now, I write with a purpose: to encourage families and future generations to view technology not as a ruler but as a tool, to question its place, and to always prioritize what’s human. With every word, my goal is clear—to help readers find clarity, connection, and courage to shape the future thoughtfully. If you’re interested in stories that entertain, challenge, and inspire, or if you’re curious about my journey, I’d love to connect. My work isn't just about telling tales; it’s about sparking change.

Somehow, every role I’ve had showed me the power of storytelling. At The Trade Group, I’ve witnessed firsthand how capturing the core of our clients’ stories through exhibit design can draw attendees in, lower their guard, and foster real, meaningful conversations that lead to business. Like in the case of our client, who I am not going to name, who is in the home organization sector. To provide some context, you should know that every company in the home organization sector uses the same format to display their products at their industry’s largest trade show. But with our client, we took it a step further. We broke the mold and swapped the closed format for an open one which allowed more people to get closer to their story. We used state-of-the-art touchscreen displays to effectively condense our client’s exhibit space to a 50x50 area, ensuring that despite a smaller footprint, the presentation remained comprehensive and interactive.

Substitute Teacher

I expected to have students in the classroom who were like me in high school: loud, borderline disrespectful, and trying to score laughs, but the reality was even more bitter. They were so apathetic to each other, quiet, and glued to their phones. And then it dawned on me that we can’t really put ourselves in their shoes because our circumstances were completely different when we were growing up. We didn’t have Google at the tip of our fingers, so anything the teacher said was never questioned. It’s no wonder kids were not interested in each other since they already knew everything about each other through social media. Even before this, I knew I wanted to write stories, but this situation actually gave me the perspective and the boost to start working on them.

Market Sales Specialist/Instructor

Totkwondo

When my father needed help running his martial arts dojo, I stepped up, unknowingly stepping into a role that would shape not only my skills as a teacher but also my perspective on what really captivates and inspires young minds.Growing up as his student, I watched my father bring every lesson to life with tales of his own training back in Mississippi. He wasn’t just an instructor; he was the Steve Irwin of martial arts, blending skill, passion, and storytelling in a way that made us all train harder. His stories sparked something powerful—a love for the art that went beyond physical training. So when I became an instructor, I had big shoes to fill. I knew holding a kid’s attention wasn’t easy, but my dad shared his “secret sauce”: you have to be the most distracting thing in the room. And he was right—nothing draws kids in like a well-timed story that shifts their perspective. I started experimenting with storytelling, and before long, it became the highlight of every class. Kids would sit wide-eyed, absorbing every word, and it was clear they loved “story time” just as much as the martial arts. This experience taught me that stories aren’t just for entertainment; they’re a tool to engage, teach, and inspire. The art of holding a room—whether it’s full of energetic kids or focused adults—is about more than instruction. It’s about creating moments that stick, that make people see things differently. Many of the stories I’m working into my books today trace their roots back to those early days, where I discovered that sometimes, the best way to teach is to tell a story no one will forget.
