Amateur boxer at Dagenham P&C ABCSeptember 2021 - March 2022"A professional is someone who does what needs to be done".I boxed competitively for Dagenham ABC at cruiserweight (88 kgs). I trained for number of years to gain the relevant conditioning needed to compete in an amateur bout. Prior to my bout, I was training five days a week and lost almost 12 kilos in sixth months. Completing this training has taught me vital lessons in: - Discipline- Work rate. - Honesty - Integrity- Resilience- Respect. To get to the level of conditioning needed, I had to make a lot of sacrifices, including waking up at 7am on a sunday morning to attend fitness training. I suffered en elbow injury in my last bout (snapped tendon), which I am still recovering from.The below are my four rules of boxing: 1) No fighting outside the gym. 2) Protect yourself at all times. 3) If you start something - finish it.4) Do not forget rules 1-3.

Between finishing sixth form and going to University, I worked on a game farm in order to help cover the costs of living at University. This job was very intensive as we were caring for the livestock as well as looking after the estate. My roles included: - Feeding the livestock. - Digging out the sheds. - Bedding the sheds. - Estate maintenance. From having these job roles for almost three seasons, I have learned valuable life skills that even education could not teach. For example, having to work 7 days a week has taught me that if I want to do well for myself, then I will have to work. It was not my first preference to be working 78 days on the trot, but if I would like the life I desire - then I will have to make the sacrifices.
