RecruiterUber Feb 2019 - May 2020San Francisco, California, UsI received an opportunity to work at one of the premier Autonomous Vehicle units in the world, Uber ATG. For a geek like myself who had been following the Autonomous Vehicle sector since I heard of Waymo in 2013, it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down.In my job function, I had the opportunity to source and recruit a disparate array of engineers. I was tasked with niche searches like Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) engineers. Additionally, I handled Eng Manager, Frontend and Backend searches. Some highlights from my time at Uber ATG:• Placed first in ATG org-wide Decisions-to-Hire (DTH) for Q1 2020 with 8 DTHs.• Placed second in ATG SWE for H2 2019 with 21 DTHs (OKR 12)• Hired an L6 Eng Manager in my second month working at Uber.• Hired two L5A Eng Managers in H2 of 2019.• Landed 6 DTHs in my second month of ramped-up recruiting (OKR 2)• Named MVP for the month of November. -
RecruiterGoogle Jan 2018 - Feb 2019Mountain View, Ca, UsWhile playing on a mens basketball rec team with a bunch of my old college friends, I mentioned that Insurance sales was draining my energy, rather than feeling energized each day after work. My buddy, Matt, mentioned he was at Google as a recruiter. He thought my background in sales and my personality would be a good fit for the recruiting world, and that he would be happy to refer me in, if I was interested. I leapt at the opportunity. I had recruited in a limited capacity in my previous role as an Operations Manager for a nonprofit, but I was intrigued by Big Tech recruiting and what that would entail.Getting my start on the New Grad team was, in hindsight, a real gift. My teammates were incredibly bright and driven, but also provided amazing mentorship and showed me everything I needed to succeed in my day to day function at Google. Once I picked up their internal ATS (GHire), learned how to boolean search appropriately, and understand a cursory amount of the technical jargon...I was off and running! Some highlights:• Led team with 70 Offer Accepts (OAs) for Q3 and Q4 combined, accounting for 17.5% of team OA production over both 2018 quarters.• Set team record with 150 Hiring Committee Approvals during Q3-Q4 (18% increase over previous record).GOALS:• 281% over Q4 OA target: 59 OAs (21 OA OKR)• 220% over Q3 OA target: 11 OAs (5 OA OKR)• 500% over Q2 OA target: 10 OAs (2 OA OKR)• Q1 OA ramp up target: 2 OAs (0 OA OKR) -
Experienced Sales RepresentativeLiberty Mutual Insurance Jul 2017 - Jan 2018Boston, Ma, UsFor the first time in my career, I was driven to a career change based on money alone. And while I did learn some useful things about the Insurance industry that has helped me in my own life, I do feel like this was the one career misstep I have taken. While I did well in my role at Liberty Mutual, I knew very quickly that there was no passion emanating from the day-to-day work I was doing, so once I got an opportunity to do something more in line with my interests, I didn't hesitate to make a switch. Some highlights:• Sold eight life insurance policies in my first two months, accounting for 40% of my yearly target.• Placed first in the U.S. for all Liberty Mutual agents in Mercury “Choice” binds for 2017.• Generated over 1.5 million dollars in life insurance policy face value amounts for clients. -
Director Of Sales And DistributionEpic Honey Co/Ahbpa Mar 2014 - Jul 2017Honey and beeswax by-product startup, funded by John Paul DeJoria (founder of Patron + Paul Mitchell).I was intrigued by working for a startup with a great mission. All the profits from honey sales were to be reinvested into the company's nonprofit arm, The American Honey Bee Protection Agency (AHBPA). I also concurrently served as AHBPA's Operations Manager. In this capacity, I would oversee our Bee Wrangler operations and do bee rescue removals and relocations myself. Some highlights from my time at Epic Honey Co:• Landed 7 big box retail accounts and put our products in 77 stores in Texas (including Central Market, Whole Foods, Sprouts, etc).• Tripled Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) from 2014-2016.

Executive Director And Co-FounderBoone Planta Water Project May 2015 - Sep 2015Boone Planta Water Project had its first mission to bring clean, accessible water to a remote Honduran village called El Zapote in 2010. This trip was to honor the name and legacy of Boone Planta, who passed away in January of 2010.In 2015, The BPWP was revitalized by my co-founder, Meredith Planta, and I as we realized the nonprofit enabled not only impoverished Latin Americans to obtain a more reliable water source, but the BPWP also provided volunteers a transformative experience where they could feel how good giving felt, and how rewarding its joys were. Our goal was to go to Guatemala and repeat what we did in Honduras 5 years previously. We raised $31k through an Indiegogo campaign that was "trending" and became the top health campaign in the entire world for Indiegogo! It was not easy, but it was so worth it. 7 volunteers and I went to the small town of La Avellana, Guatemala and helped oversee the project.

Office CounselStratus Properties Inc. Aug 2013 - May 2014Austin, Tx, UsStratus is one of the top development firms in Austin and publically traded as well. They are known for their development and ownership of the renown W Hotel in Austin but also the major developments Southwest Austin. My role there was an entry level position where I was essentially an errand boy until I paid my dues to move up the ranks. There really isn't any other way of putting it!My plan was to eventually try to move into their residential sales department that was known for finalizing deals on their high-end ($1M) condos at the W Hotel. But by sheer coincidence -- or fate-- I happened to meet the "bee man" (Walter Schumacher) who had colonies of bees on the roof of the W Hotel. After establishing a friendship, he asked me to help plan a non-profit fundraiser for his 501 (c)(3) bee rescue nonprofit. What started out as a friendship morphed into a business proposition: He wanted me to help run his nonprofit as well as be his Director of Sales for his for-profit LLC (a startup he co-founded with John Paul Dejoria). -
Policy Analyst- Natural Resources CommitteeTexas Senate Jan 2013 - May 2013Austin, Texas, UsI worked on Bill White's 2010 Gubernatorial campaign during my sophomore year in college and enjoyed having an outlet for my political beliefs and being able to put them into action. I still had that hankering 3 years later.Upon arrival in Texas, I didn't have a job, a phone or an apartment, but the first thing I did was head to the State Capitol to shake hands and drop off resumes to different offices. Luckily, I came back from Spain right in time to begin my first paid job in politics during the 5 month Texas State legislative session.I quickly received 3 offers but decided on working for the Senate Committee on Natural Resources. It was incredible 5 months of learning the ins and outs of how the legislation gets moved forward out of committee (or doesn't, in many cases). It gave me insight into how the sausage is made, so to speak, which was fascinating but also, to be honest, a bit disillusioning for too many reasons to state here. After the regular session ended and almost all of the policy analysts and staffers left (the State Capitol becomes a ghost town after the legislative session ends) I focused on other areas outside of politics I might want to explore. Real Estate was an area that kept popping up! -
Farm HandCan Pere Mussona Aug 2012 - Dec 2012After graduation, I got an invite from an old family friend who owned a farm in Ibiza, Spain as well as a "Chiringuito" (translation: funky beach bar) that would change my life. Can Pere Mussona was Ibiza's only organic farm. I did a bit of everything there: planting fresh vegetables, crafting fence wire for coops, feeding the animals, scooping up lots of poop (!) and even corraling animals that were to be sent to the abattoir (which was a sad but necessary element of the job).I also was a bus boy for Babylon Beach Bar, which at that point had just opened with a significant buzz and the restaurant and vibes were absolutely top notch. I spent 5 months learning Spanish (not quite fluent, but highly conversational), exploring the Balearic islands (and mainland Spain) while working two amazing jobs. It served as the perfect gap year post-graduation to explore my curiosities and meet incredible people while challenging myself living in a completely different environment. I still look back on it as the best time in my life.
