• Parker Employee Recognition recipient for commitment, hard work, and dedication to pump qualification testing. Acquired a test engineering skillset by plumbing various flow mapping test stands, performing pump teardowns, hardware inspections, and reassembling pumps, decreasing project time and cost. Made use of wrenches, flow meters, thermocouples, pressure transducers, hole gauges, micrometers, passameters, and penetrant inspection.• Identified high flow ripple in lube and scavenge section of pump. Created testing hardware compatible with a Coriolis flow meter and an oscilloscope, using Excel FFT to determine root cause. Decreased lube section ripple by 2.5x by correctly phasing shaft and developed a method to determine air/oil ratio. Identified conditions that caused high cavitation and led to scavenge section ripple. Utilized Ansys Discovery CFD to prove hydraulic flow forces were negligible. • Modeled and analyzed gerotor stresses by altering internal CFD tools, creating usable input constraints through Excel analysis, and iteratively adjusting material deflection and oil film thickness solutions using Ansys Mechanical. Reported worst case operating conditions that could result in gerotor cracking.• Proved crack in pump component was from improper assembly/disassembly through use of Ansys Mechanical.• Evaluated potential CFD software in terms of ease-of-use, time required, and features present. Communicated with outside vendor to improve software based on these metrics.
Electromechanical Engineering Co-Op
• Produced test procedures, fixtures, and written reports to develop a project from prototype to pre-production stage. Collected and analyzed sound samples to identify experimental parameters that produced ideal results of amplitude, frequency, and vibration isolation. Used SolidWorks to create 3D printed prototype parts for system.• Created and modified existing parts, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks with physical constraints. Designed with intent through part creation, drawing dimensioning, and mating.• Performed first article inspections to ensure received manufactured parts were within tolerance and compatible with parent assembly. Modified out-of-specification parts efficiently and created redlines in cases where parts were not within tolerance or design criteria. Communicated with manufacturers for quotes and part adjustments.• Used a variety of shop tools to create, assemble, and adjust parts for prototyping and manufacturing. Followed engineering drawings and redlined documents when needed for future product improvement.• Read electrical schematics, labeled components, and performed terminal crimps to assist in manufacturing.
Engineering Co-Op
• Created test fixtures, procedures, and reports with detailed documentation. Used Pro E to design test fixtures and drawings while collaborating with the in-house machine shop to create fixtures.• Independently developed a test method for analyzing the leak rate of water into the base of an ignition switch. Created multiple compatible test fixtures and developed various testing methods. Passed on test reports with recommended product improvements to outside company acquiring the ignition switch product line.• Used digital microscopes, EST analyzers, X-ray machines, and pneumatic pumps to perform root cause analysis on warranty returns and defected production parts. Delivered test reports to engineers to improve current designs.• Collaborated with design and manufacturing engineers to analyze prototype capabilities. Applied knowledge of engineering statics to determine the position, speed, and torque a motor applied to an off-centered cylinder.• Performed a design of experiments with four variables comparing Keyless Entry product iterations. Confirmed that the new product design addressed the previous iteration’s faults without affecting other device functions.• Assembled hundreds of prototypes of numerous products for Ford, GM, Mopar, and Mazda using soldering irons, epoxy resin dispensers, and hand tools.• Demonstrated prototype assembly and wrote test procedures and reports to effectively transfer knowledge to foreign company facilities.
