The dLCV Governing Board is the principal governing body of the agency. Through this role, I act as an ambassador of the agency and provide direction to the Executive Director through policies, strategic planning, and the budget.

I created and run a support group for chronically ill and disabled young people to increase a sense of community and friendship for disabled college students. We have weekly Zoom meetings and I run an Instagram account focused on activism and allyship when relating to disability. The goal of the group is to increase conversation surrounding disability and to raise awareness of the life experiences of young people specifically. I have received press coverage around the group from CNN and the Washington Post regarding the impact that it has made on the community.

I assisted Civil Rights Division attorneys in a variety of assignments, including conducting legal and factual, preparing documents and exhibits, interviewing witnesses, summarizing depositions, analyzing records, and other case-related work. Additionally, I assisted the Division with a full range of civil rights policy work, including legislative proposals, policy development, and engaging civil rights stakeholders.

I created an organization that designs and sews pouches distributed to children recently diagnosed with type one diabetes. I sew bags that engage independence and foster responsibility through the organization of their supplies. Received $3,000 Capital One Financial Org. grant to fund the project further and have the ability to buy supplies. Distributed to over 100 patients in local doctors’ offices.

Work focuses on youth engagement policy matters. In charge of writing disability strategy for the U.K. government specifically related to young disabled individuals, disabled women, and public awareness and attitudes. Wrote a series of blogs regarding issues related to disability rights and experiences to aid in public awareness of disability matters. Edited and produced the Magazine published to aid young disabled people in obtaining jobs and further education.
