I interned in the Lauren Weiss Lab at UCSF under Aditi Deshpande, PhD. We researched a cell-based model for studying autism and associated neurodevelopmental disorders. Our project involved studying gene deletion and duplication phenotypes in patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), in order to understand the neurodevelopmental pathways affected and to develop treatment strategies. I used Fiji ImageJ software to analyze scientific images of cellular structures.

I interned in the Lauren Weiss Lab at UCSF under Michela Traglia, PhD. We researched Vitamin D levels during pregnancy as a risk factor for autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). We analyzed cohorts of pregnant mothers and their healthy and ASD-affected offspring for genetic variation impacting Vitamin D levels. Using the R programming language, I analyzed DNA samples for contribution of the variants to ASD.
