As the Application Architect I was tasked with leading, developing and maintaining the application architecture and product roadmap for a suite of internal and external applications.

In a nutshell Hire-X is an e-commerce software platform designed for businesses that hire and rent things out to their customers. Think “Shopify for your hire business”.I managed small development team that built this unique software from the ground up. I was responsible for the product design, often sketching out ideas on the kitchen table, brainstorming with the team and analysing the features and functionality provided by our competitors and other e-Commerce solutions.I was also responsible for seeking validation of our initial MVP from people in our proposed market, identifying and scheduling any required updates and feature enhancements and ensuring our product met the requirements of our future customers.The finished solution was completely cloud-based, based on an Angular 10 front-end, a .NET Core API and using a range of Azure services, such as App Services, Blob Storage, Queues, Azure Functions, and Azure Database for PostgreSQL server.

Brandis Hire is Australia's newest technical equipment hire company and was established to provide a fresh, new approach to technical equipment hire.As a Senior Developer for Brandis Hire, I was responsible for building their customer website and related internal hire management system. Initially brought on to develop the front-end in React, I also updated and refactored the .NET Core API.As the internal structure of the company changed, I took lead of our small development team to ensure the solution was fully functioning and ready to hit the web in a timely manner.Completely cloud based, this system has enabled to company to grow from one location and one operations assistant to multiple locations and numerous staff. In the words of the Director, Cameron Brandis, this would not have been possible without the software.Once the software development cycle came to a close, it was decided that this solution, or a variant of it, would be great for lots of other small and medium sized businesses. This led to the creation of Hire-X.

TechnologyOne is Australia's largest enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS) company and one of Australia's top 200 ASX-listed companies, with offices across six countries. As part of the Property and Ratings team supporting TechnologyOne’s existing solution, I helped deliver exceptional bug free software that fulfilled the customers’ requirements. I also ensured that enhancements and features were added in a timely manner, while fulfilling internal coding standards and testing regime, but also matched the long-term, strategic plan for the product.I specifically worked with the System Architect and Product Owner, and members of the Web team to enhance and update features for the ASP.NET/VB.Net public-facing website for the Property and Rating system, that enabled users to interact with their local government.

Managed the development life cycle for the Mission web-based Asset Management system, including working closely with clients and stakeholders to gather system requirements, managing an offshore team, performing architectural guidance and code review.

Worked on a number of web and mobile projects for a diverse range of clients, carrying out business analysis, solution design, implementation, testing and system documentation.In addition to building custom web and mobile applications, I was also instrumental in launching a commercial product that was designed to collect, store and manage information pertaining to the delivery of services for small businesses.

Architected a solution for Council’s mobile workforce, including the use of third-party apps and developing bespoke systems to support all major platforms including iOS (iPhone/iPad), Android and Windows Phone.Worked with Council business units to identify, design, develop and implement numerous applications and utilities to enhance and integrate with existing corporate systems.

Develop corporate website and custom Content Management System (CMS) based on the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework and utilising industry best-practice Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques.Design, develop and implement an ERP solution using Microsoft Access 2003, including work-order processing, customer and supplier invoicing and employee timesheets.

Work with Council business units to identify and explore opportunities for more effective use of existing corporate systems and identify opportunities for improving efficiency by utilising internally developed applications. Develop new information systems and applications, utilising Microsoft Visual Studio and the .NET Framework, ASP.NET and VB.NET, Microsoft Access (2000-2003), SQL Server and Oracle.

Database design, creation and maintenance using Access (1997-2003). I managed the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), including initial client meetings, providing detailed system requirements and quotations, designing and implementation the system using Access and providing ongoing client support.
