The team goes to shelters, safe rest villages, and encampments to provide medical and mental health care to those who do not make it to brick-and-mortar buildings.

I served over 1700 hours as an AmeriCorps member over in the economically and socially exploited communities of Jacksonville to improve health care access for individuals. My main responsibility was to enroll and manage approximately 600 patients in various Patient Assistance Programs, bringing in over one million dollars in medications annually, providing access to free medications for those without insurance at the Sulzbacher Center. Additionally, I coordinated healthcare and social services for patients, including Spanish speakers, to ensure those seeking it were provided comprehensive care as well as collaborated with other AmeriCorps members to provide education on healthy eating, dental care, mental health and chronic disease prevention and management.

I developed a patient satisfaction survey to better understand the care we are providing to our patients and organized a project to provide free blood pressure cuffs to patients so they can engage in their own evaluation and treatment. Additionally I facilitated the roll over to new interns and volunteers for the next year after I graduated.

I helped curate and create an exhibition at Whitman College called "Along the Columbia River: The Confluence Project" which is partnered with artist Maya Lin and endeavors to show the process of the project and analyze its ability to reveal the history, living cultures, and ecology of the Columbia River system through Indigenous voices. • Headed a project in collaboration with TRACEs (Trauma Resilience and Adverse Childhood Experiences) Central Oregon to understand the Central Oregon community’s knowledge and attitudes towards trauma and resilience through using survey data. • Communicated with all people on the TRACEs project, setting up and carrying out a schedule for survey collection, and did preliminary work on data visualization to make sure target sample sizes were met.• Chaperoned students in the Knight Scholars Program which gives high school students from under-served communities a chance to learn about careers in cancer research.

• Conducted a project that analyzed algae growth with various metformin concentrations in order to provide quantitative information on a newly studied relationship between plant growth and the antidiabetic drug. • Collected and analyzed data on algae growth using fluorometry and ANOVA and Tukey HSD statistical analysis to determine which concentrations of metformin had significant effect on algae growth.• Collected field data in the Columbia River regarding salmon habitat which provided information for an annual report for the Lower Columbia River Ecosystem Monitoring Program.• Collaborated with a graduate student on thesis work and contributed to quantitative data collection on water column structure and ecosystem metabolism.
