I work on resource assessment and project design for utility scale solar projects in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

As a senior PV designer I work on many initiatives within the company to improve process and performance of other designers. I also review designers work for quality and in the case of unusual or difficult situations that arise during day-to-day operations. I have also continued to design residential solar systems in this role on a limited basis. I work as a lead designer for roof top and ground mounted residential solar systems between 2.5 kW and 30 kW in system size. The role of lead designer involves additional interaction and communication between all facets of the business as well as training and mentoring of new designers.

I conducted research into the effects of deposition on solar panel efficiency and its relation to ambient conditions. This research was conducted over short time scales to develop predictive models for deposition to potentially allow for better siting of proposed solar installations as well as improving the methodology for assessing deposition related losses in solar plants.

I worked as a full cycle design engineer for a year and a half following completion of my undergraduate degree. My position required very close attention to detail given the required certification and inspection of all components as well as a rigorous work ethic to complete a fast paced project according to customer specifications both in terms of quality and time.A major portion of my work at Sierra Nevada involved interfacing with a small core (5-8) of engineers working on a single project. This required focused and deliberate communication skills and a keen sense of interpersonal relations. I was assigned a lead role on several components of the final design and it was my responsibility to communicate with the team, vendors, regulatory bodies, the customer, and anyone else who had an interest. Through this experience I developed strong communication skills and a strong professionalism.I left the company on good terms after the completion of the project I had started the company with to pursue higher education in the field of renewable energy.**As part of my employment at Sierra Nevada I was granted a Top Secret security clearance and should have no difficulty obtaining a clearance again should that be necessary.

As a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and the University of Colorado at Boulder I assisted in the development of a lunar drilling system. As project manager I was responsible for: establishing meeting times/agendas, creating/motivating a schedule, reviewing/writing technical documentation and deliverables, communicating with Lockheed Martin and University advisers, creating and executing a test plan, as well as additional design work required from all team members.

I worked closely with a member of TDA staff on an independent study project. The project consisted of testing a prototype spray diffuser for use in an internal combustion engine. This required construction of a test apparatus, development of a test procedure, creation of necessary circuitry and equipment for execution of test procedure, calibration of equipment, and technical documentation of experimental set-up.
