A Shop Consultant is person who, when you have trouble designing, ideating, fabricating, and prototyping your design or idea, will help carry you up the mountain of creation. At mHUB I am the CNC/Cold Metals, Plastics, CADD/CAM, prototyping and fabrication specialist. Besides training members on our vast array of equipment, I advise and guide members through the process of prototyping and fabrication of their designs, and help the shop team prototype members designs in our fabrication shop.

Illumivation Studios is Marketing & Prop fabrication house, specializing in experiential marketingprops and custom fabrication; this is a second phase start up company. As the Design Team Manager my responsibilities included: developing designs, deciding design fabrication methodology & assembly, and figuring out installation/un-installation. Within my scope of responsibility also included site surveys, CADD modeling, and material choices. Secondary contributions included: bid packages, initial design conception, supply chain management & procurement, coordinating delivery, payroll/time tracking, systems research & implementation, fabrication, IT systems management, lead install/uninstall teams, coordinating with business partner/end-customer and development of new revenue streams. (40-60 hrs)- Systems implemented for both the design process and business resulted in estimated reduced:overtime, part time/overhire necessity, material cost and overhead/business costs.- Starting at Illumivation as an freelance fabricator, was offered Illumivation’s first salaried full timedesigner position, followed by several designers placed on the team- Designs recognized by news, social media, and an advertising award; TimeOut Chicago, Silver Obie Award, Chicago & Montana New’s Stations- Designed for top names: Field Museum Chicago/National Geographic, PUMA, Esurance, Makers Mark,AT&T, Redd’s Apple Ale, Leinenkugel, Abbott Labs, Google- Recognized by Fusion 360 for design work, to presented on Fusion 360 Roadshow

As a Dream Consultant I was responsible for maintaining facilities equipment, instructing patrons on industrial equipment, and ordering & managing supplies. I also acted as design consultant to clients; helping design, evolve, and fabricate their ideas turning them into reality. While I was a Techshop Dream Consultant I assisted members with in the machine shops (lathe and mill), with welding, powder coating, silicon & urethane mold making & casting. I also assisted with production runs using the CNC & laser cutter. Digitally I assisted clients with computer modeling using SolidWorks, AutoCad and Rhino, as well as rendering using Keyshot, Photoshop and Illustrator. While at Techshop I took it upon my self to stream line material ordering, organization and cataloging, allowing for easier training of new employees and more efficient use of capital.

The summer of 2012 I had an internship with Meld USA, a custom concrete design and fabrication company. My tenure at Meld was spent doing fabrication shop work, prepping & casting concrete molds, organizing the shop, and managing supplies. This internship gave me real world experience in managing resources, dealing with clients, and managing time tables for current vs up coming projects.
