My work in the Beuning Lab explored the DNA damage response in bacteria. I was particularly interested in how increasing our understanding of the DNA damage response in bacteria provides insights into combating antibiotic resistant bacterial strains. I taught Organic Chemistry I Lab during the 2019-2020 Fall and Spring semesters. For the 2020-2021 school year I taught multiple iterations of general chemistry recitation. Outside of research I enjoy volunteering in outreach opportunities such as judging the Boston Public Schools middle and high school Olympiad.

Cambridge, Ma

As one of the original lab members in the Hekstra lab I was an integral team member in the establishment of research operations. My responsibilities as a research assistant encompassed many aspects of lab functioning and helped me build a dynamic skill set that serves as a foundation for my current work. My favorite responsibilities included training graduate and undergraduate students in proper lab procedure and acting as a knowledge resource for other lab members. This experience also provided me with extensive knowledge of protein purification and crystallization.

Bridgewater State University

In the BSU SMB lab we studied the interactions of DNA with cancer drugs using optical tweezers. I conducted a literature review of a potential drug to study with optical tweezers and learned how to construct the flow cells that experiments are performed in. This project was continued by other lab members after my graduation in 2017. I assembled flow cells for later use in experiments and constructed a protective casing for the optical tweezers with my research partner.

Bridgewater State University

As a CMA Ambassador in Training I assisted with the planning and advertising various CMA events which help to promote diversity on the Bridgewater State University campus. As the head CMA Ambassador I directly communicated with my supervisors directly to ensure that CMA were planned and executed effectively. I also worked directly with my fellow ambassadors and student office assistants to ensure smooth office functioning and a welcoming environment for all guests of the center. As a student office worker I greeted guests of the CMA as they entered, answered phones and performed any clerical work that needed to be completed. I also ensured that the space remained neat and clean and that all bulletin boards were up to date.

I worked in multiple departments at Hilliard's including the molding department and the enrober. In the molding department I made variously shaped chocolate pieces for the three stores and for customer special orders. I prioritized which orders needed to be completed first and ensured that all orders were completed on time. In both departments I kept track of production numbers for supervisors.

Gelles Lab, Brandeis University

As a lab assistant in the Gelles lab I prepared various solutions and media such as buffers and nutrient plates. I also ensured that the materials I was responsible for remained stocked. Additionally, I performed experiments involving lac repressor. I prepared the NATIVE PAGE gels necessary for the experiments as well as the reactions to be run on the gels. After completion of the run I analyzed the gel using a Typhoon image scanner.

Easton, Mass

I worked at the Easton Town Pool as a lifeguard during the summer. My responsibilities included supervising swimming and beach areas, and assisting customers at the front desk and the snack bar. Additionally I performed any necessary first aid and worked with other lifeguards to ensure the safety of all customers.
