Who I Am: I’ve been a patent litigator for more than 30 years. I have been lead counsel in many patent cases, as well as trade secret, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and trade dress cases; have handled IP arbitration before domestic and international tribunals; and have argued before the U.S. Supreme Court.Most recently, I was a partner and a Practice Group Lead for intellectual property litigation at Bingham McCutchen. Before that, I was a founding partner of Pretty and Schroeder, an IP litigation boutique. I am experienced in appeals before the Federal Circuit as well as Second, Seventh and Ninth Circuits, and in 20 different U.S. District Courts. I take on selected contingency matters, especially patent cases.I have spoken before organizations such as: American Intellectual Property Law Association; the Licensing Executives Society; the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association; & the Practicing Law Institute. I began my career as a patent examiner assigned to the Physics Group at the United States Patent Office. Subsequently, I founded the boutique intellectual property law firm, Pretty & Schroeder.
