I started working with technology way back in high school, when my parents brought home our first family computer, a Pentium 166 with MMX, and 32MB of RAM, running Windows 95 and Photoshop 3.0, and a 33K fax/modem. When my parents or sister didn't need the phone, I would steal every minute I could browsing the internet, to see what all the hype was about in those yahoo! powered tech bubble days. I quickly found my way onto AngleFire and Geocities. Almost instantly, I wanted to do more than the basic controls would allow. I clicked the advanced buttons, and found myself looking at raw HTML. Thankfully there was no way back. I started editing the code, including bits of rollover JavaScript I'd found on id Software's homepage. I was hooked.From those early tinkerings, to my first job doing HTML, I found myself continually seeking the next challenge. I would ask myself, what's so hard about putting together a forum, or an online store. For each new challenge, I taught myself the necessary skills to get the work done. Starting on the little known Web DNA, because our host supported it, and quickly moving on to PHP and MySQL after using phpBB for an another project (and stripping it down so far, as to almost completely rewrite it in the process). It turned out to be quite a challenge, but I loved every minute of it, and got it done, and done well.The same pattern continued, as I moved into motion graphics, and larger applications within Flash, and then back to HTML5 and JavaScript. When I want to do something new, something current technology or restrictions won't let me do, like making the back button work in a Flash app (a technique that would come to be known as "deep linking"), I would jump in and find a way.This is my development method. My experience has only made me hungrier for new challenges, whether in mobile optimization techniques, scalability, robustness of design, etc. I welcome challenge, and will do what it takes to meet and exceed them.
