Acoustical Consultant And Spatial AnalystHankard Environmental, Inc. Aug 2013 - May 2018Highlands Ranch ColoradoAs a staff acoustical and spatial consultant with Hankard Environmental, I regularly create noise models, prepare for site assessments, obtain field measurements, generate reports, and create figures. Additionally, I have made a place for myself by integrating GIS technologies and applications into almost every project from simple mapping and figure creation to viewshed analysis, and impact assessments. • ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE MODELING- With the use of Traffic Noise Model (TNM) v2.5 produced by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) I created noise models of roadways and surrounding homes and business to assess noise impacts to these receptors based on current roadway layout and traffic counts as well as future roadway designs and traffic predictions. These models were then validated in the field with noise measurements performed following ANSI specifications for compliance. • SPATIAL ANALYSIS- Utilizing a variety of geographic information systems (GIS) I produce geographic products for the identification of potential receptors, as well as potential noise sources. I perform suitability analysis to determine measurement location sites and georeferenced aerial images for use in sound modeling software. • FIELD SITE ASSESSMENTS AND NOISE MEASUREMENTS- Perform ground truthing of GIS products and assess identified measurement sites for appropriateness. Set up, calibration, and configuration of noise monitoring equipment to obtain scientifically valid noise measurements of noise sources (roadways, power plants, music venues, wind turbines, and other sources)• REPORT GENERATION AND FIGURE CREATION- After completing measurements and modeling the results are summarized in report form and presented to clients and stakeholders. I also create figures and maps as part of this process -

I collaborate with parks and fellow employees to solve resource and visitor management issues and design workflows to create products for a variety of audiences and stakeholders. • GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) - I created interdisciplinary cartographic products and graphics for a variety of projects. Skillsets include cartography; python scripting; spatial analysis; model builder; geospatial raster analysis; proficiency in basic geoprocessing; environmental modeling; and requested park data management analysis projects. • GEOGRAPHIC ASSISTANCE TO PARKS AND NPS DEPARTMENTS –. My duties included creating static and dynamic park atlases (paper and web mapping) that help parks with interdisciplinary management. Communication with park staff and ongoing data management to ensure current data. I have assisted in map generations for Cultural and Natural Resources, Environmental Quality, Energy, and Bureau of Indian Affairs. • WEB APPLICATION DESIGN- As part of the Park Places centennial act each National Park created a foundation document and I was charged with developing an online Story Map based on this document for Grand Teton National Park. This application was created to be 508 compliant.• NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT – I have been involved in projects related to natural resource management and increased my personal experience with not only NPS policies but overarching federal policies, government operations, and day to day resource management practices. I also collected samples in the field while assisting in student instruction. I also perform common lab processes for outside researchers as requested.• SAMPLE PROCESSING- Most samples are processed to obtain data on charcoal and pollen contents, percent organic material and amount of magnetic susceptibility at continuous depths from lake sediment cores. Some processes included the use of highly caustic chemicals (hydrofluoric, sulfuric, and hydrochloric acids) and required the use of full PPE.• STATISTICAL ANALYSIS- Most analysis performed on data from this lab are performed with packages written for R and R Studio, C2, CharAnalysis, SPSS and Bayesian models. Through my time at this lab, I taught myself how to use all these programs as well as aided in the creation of a protocol to determine fire severity from statistical data analysis.• FIELD WORK- I assisted other students as part of class field trips or thesis research obtain lake sediment cores from several high alpine lakes in Colorado. I aided in coordination materials and equipment need for the trips as well as with students on how best to prepare for fieldwork. In the field, I instructed students on the use of equipment and proper scientific procedures to obtain valid samples from the lake bottom.• LABORATORY MANAGEMENT- I was responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization of the lab.
