    I am responsible for responding to mental health crisis calls referred to me by Psychiatrist, Case Workers, Law Enforcement, Emergency Room, Culver Youth Detention, Midland County Jail and local Nursing homes regarding suicidal and/or homicidal clients and individuals in the community, as well as those that are exhibiting Psychotic episodes. I provide emergency services to MHMR clients and individuals in the community by defining their presenting complaints, obtaining relevant history, assessing needed intervention, initiating appropriate crisis intervention services, resolving crisis situations, filing emergency detention and/or commitment papers and facilitating admission through hospital personnel for placement into a Psychiatric hospital when needed. I am responsible for ensuring each person in crisis that I come into contact with is treated in the least restrictive and most appropriate environment, specifically, reducing admissions to Big Spring State Hospital. I have an extensive history and track record of developing and maintaining a positive working relationships with city and county law enforcement, hospital personnel and local Judges. Each client is provided with referrals from the community that is appropriate for each of their individual needs for Outpatient services, such as counseling. I also provide follow up on each client within a 24 hour period from our original face to face contact.

    I was responsible for coordinating services for registered clients enrolled in the Crisis Respite facility. I partnered in the development as well as the implementing the opening of a 20-bed Crisis Respite facility known as, "The Johnson Center." It was for clients that were in-between stabilization for the community due to a recent discharge from being inpatient at a state hospital following a crisis. Their crisis could be due to a psychotic episode, medication adjustment or suicidal and/or homicidal ideations or actions. It was a short term facility to aide in their transition to become more independent and responsible for their own treatment and their plan of care. I helped facilitate entry of these crisis clients into a much needed brief service with a safe environment that encouraged individual growth. We also provided appropriate referral's to ongoing services, such as counseling and/or group therapy. We focused on teaching the clients budgeting, shopping, cooking, medication monitoring, life skills and socialization to promote success from each resident at The Johnson Center. The primary goal was for each client to feel that they can accomplish living on their own by being compliant with their medication to the point that they decrease their inpatient bed days and are able to live a happy, healthy and independent life.
