Go Mobile Technologies was a start up positioned as a systems integrator of mobile and wireless technology solutions partnering principally with Zebra Technologies, Motorola, Honeywell and Datalogic. It specialized in designing, deploying and supporting these solutions into large enterprise customers in South Africa.

I assisted Motorola executives in Chicago, USA in defining and executing Motorola's global enterprise mobility strategy. During that time I also had sales oversight of Motorola's global markets outside North and South America. This project culminated in the 2006 Motorola acquisition of Symbol Technologies for $3.7Bn. At the time, this was Motorola's largest acquisition by value. The combined business was consolidated as Motorola Solutions Inc. and later sold to Zebra Technologies.

I was responsible for assisting in strategy, mentoring and channel development for the Motorola Enterprise Mobile Computing EMEA Group based in Tel-Aviv and Arad, Israel. This group was also the research & manufacturing operation and centre of excellence for Motorola's global enterprise mobility business.

Barcode Works was a bar code technology systems integrator specializing in bar code printers, labels, scanner and mobile computers. It partnered with Symbol Technologies, Intermec and Zebra Technologies in the delivery of bar code technology solutions to retail, transportation, health care and government customers.

I served as Chief Marketing Officer For Symbol Technologies based in London, responsible for all marketing and marketing communication activities across EMEA. This included management and oversight of Symbol University, the Industrial Marketing Group, Marketing Communications, the EMEA Industrial Design Group and the Channel Marketing Group. In addition I also maintained operational business responsibility for the African subsidiary.

Symbol Technologies Africa was responsible for marketing, sales and support of all Symbol products across Africa. This included barcode scanners, mobile devices and wireless networks. It was one of the first subsidiaries to pioneer and deploy Symbol's new channel support model in the EMEA region. In 2001, the South African subsidiary was recognized as Symbol's best operating subsidiary globally.

These tags incorporated movement and environmental sensors designed to be be applied to high value packages, items and electronic devices. This was a forerunner to the early stage RFID chips. In its first year of operation, the new company became the largest supplier of spread spectrum based WWAN solutions in Africa, and as direct result of these early successes, the business was acquired by Symbol Technologies, USA in early 2001.

Symbol Technologies, based in New York and listed on the NYSE, was the worlds premier supplier of bar code scanners, hand held computers and wireless networks. The South African subsidiary was one of its largest international subsidiaries overseeing operations in Africa and the Indian Ocean islands. Besides acting as Managing Director for the regional operation, I was also responsible for integrating the acquisition of Skywire Africa.

Barcodes Services was a subsidiary of Barcodes (Pty) Ltd. and was positioned as a distinct service and support organization for hand held mobile computers, bar code scanners, wireless networks and bar code printers. In addition it supplied specialist installation and professional support services for wireless spread spectrum networks. This business was sold as as an element of the acquisition of Barcodes (Pty) Ltd to Symbol Technologies in 1995
