When I was a kid, I used to annoy my sister whenever I would tell a story. She just wanted me to get to the point while I would recount every detail. I believe you need all of the information to fully understand. It's this attention to detail and desire to problem solve that have made me the "go-to" person at work.When I first started at my current job, we had a custom medical software being developed for us. When I would take problems to the team, and try to help solve them or make suggestions, they would always tell me that I should switch careers and work with them. As a self-proclaimed amateur gamer since I was a teenager, I did relate to some of the developers and this sparked a curiosity in me. Alas, I was comfortable in my position, was passionate about it, and excelled at it. So this curiosity was something that would just slowly grow.Fast forward many years, I am fortunate to still be working in the same place. We lost our development team just a few years in. But, having worked in that software for so long and now in a new program, I have been able to see what works and what doesn't and have been inspired by how they could be improved. I have remained the person who everyone comes to for help, including with technical issues. During this time, I have also found myself back in the gaming world and joined the moderating team for one of the games I enjoy playing. When I first opened up a Wiki page to start editing the code, I had a "Eureka!" moment. I wanted to learn all of the things all at once. I knew at that moment that it was time to switch careers and which direction I wanted to go in.I am excited to move forward and see how this new educational journey melds with my other passions.
