As a clinic scheduler I am the link between the patient and the medical staff. I screen calls to schedule appointments, take messages for the nurse’s and providers or connect the patients to the previously mentioned. My work is in accordance to a newer system to the hospital and clinic. I follow up on inquiries for medication refills, appointments, prior check patient appointments in NaviNet an online insurance system to validate eligibility and if the patient has a copay due at time of visit. After verification I try to contact the patient the day prior to appointment to remind the patient of appointment, copay or any changes to time or setting of appointment.I am in charge of a busy clinic setting with multiple practitioners visiting day to day with patients with a multitude of needs. In this setting I control the atmosphere, delegation of time and attendance. I am the first point of contact for their visit, phone call, fax, etc.
