I worked as a senior consultant with Risk & Policy Analysts Ltd (RPA) with a background in Environmental Sciences. My role included undertaking analyses of current practices for environmental protection and consideration of risks as well undertaking research and analysis for policy evaluations and impact assessments, including collating, analysing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative information and producing technically robust work that is accessible to the non-specialist. My experience consists of applying methodologies and evaluation tools to assess the environmental, social and economic impacts (including costs and benefits) and risks of various policy measures, with this including undertaking research and data gathering through literature reviews, and direct stakeholder engagement. At RPA I worked on a range of projects for industry, national governments and the European Commission in the fields of environment, water, chemicals and policy.

This was a temporary contract in which I worked as a marine observation systems data assistant and research assistant at the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquacultural Science (Cefas). I was responsible for assisting with the management and analysis of marine observation data, including computer and lab based analysis, as well as data collection and construction/maintenance of marine instruments during offshore voyages.

As part of my university degree I completed a year in industry. My role was environmental advisor at Enviroco Ltd where I was responsible for ensuring that the waste management operations occurring on site complied with permits, environmental regulations (ISO 14001) and legislation, with day-to-day activities including report writing and regular liaison with colleagues, clients and regulatory organisations.

This was a temporary contract completed during my university degree. I was responsible for extensive analysis of data collected by annual research voyages as well as report writing to contribute to the production of an OSPAR ecological assessment of the eutrophication status of UK marine waters.
