My work addresses the key factors controlling biogeochemical cycling of carbon and nutrients within the marine environment, responses to natural and anthropogenic stressors and their impacts on ecosystem functioning.With a strong multidisciplinary background in ocean, earth and environmental sciences, my wider research goals consider the climate mitigation potential of blue carbon ecosystems, transport of organic matter across the land-ocean continuum, and carbon storage in offshore sediments.Within my role at Cefas, I am a member of the Secretariat team for Ocean Decade UK, the UK's National Decade Committee dedicated to inspiring UK engagement with the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
