My name is Carl Phillips and I am fascinated by space! We have learned so much about the world from studying this planet......think what we could learn from them all. Sorry for the Star Trek quote but I do believe space is The Final Frontier.I graduated from Pennsylvania State University- University Park with a BS degree in Aerospace Engineering in June 2012. During my time there I was the team leader for a Team Space Transportation Competition- NETO (Nittany Earth-To-Orbit) in which our business strategy was to send one thousand civilians per year into Low-Earth Orbit and then back to the Earth's surface. Our group had to design the space vehicle and all of the systems (Command and Data Handling, Communications, Propulsion, Mission Architecture, Life Support, etc). I was additionally part of a Laboratory analysis group which studied wind pressure loads on rockets and wings using the university's wind tunnel.After college I moved down to Herndon, VA and took a position as a mission controller for GeoEye Imagery (now called DigitalGlobe). My positions included Ground Terminal Systems Operator and Mission Operations Center Controller, my responsibilities included managing the antenna on the ground and satellite, monitoring contacts, Ensuring that all down-linking and up-linking procedures were completed nominally, maintaining the state-of-health of the satellite and very importantly responding to and resolving any anomalous events.I am currently working as a contractor from Honeywell for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. I am currently on the beginning phases for MMS (Magnetospheric Multiscale) Mission. I work with pre-launch preparations and once the satellite are launched I will be manning real time operations.
