As Publications Project Manager, I am responsible for the daily management of the Glasgow 2014 publications inventory as well as ad-hoc jobs (totalling approximately 1,000 items). Working closely with the Studio and Publications Manager, I ensure that all publications move through the in-house agency process as smoothly as possible - from briefing to final delivery - in line with pre-agreed project timelines.Key duties include: - liaising closely with internal clients throughout the entire production process.- consulting with in-house and external agency artworkers/designers to ensure that work is completed accurately, in a timely manner, and to the highest possible standards in line with the Glasgow 2014 brand.- working with designers and printers to achieve cost-effective and high quality specifications; requesting and assessing production quotes; and commissioning work.- supporting in-house copywriters with proofing copy for publications; quality-checking design and print proofs; and spot-checking pieces of collateral to ensure all copy falls in line with the Glasgow 2014 Editorial Style Guide.- commissioning photo shoots, where required, and managing the selection and purchase of photography from external agencies.- assisting the Publications Manager with the day-to-day management of the in-house team.Key achievements to date include:- successfully learning key points of the design, print and electronic publication production process with little previous experience.- overseeing a large number of publications from concept to delivery, including a suite of training publications for an 18,000-strong volunteer and Glasgow 2014 workforce.- playing an integral part in the delivery of the Glasgow 2014 Official Ticketing Guide and the Spectator Guide and ticket package.

As Communications Officer, I worked closely with the Communications Manager and Head of Media Relations to deliver positive reputational messages via proactive and reactive PR; and supported the Internal Communications Manager with the successful dissemination of operational objectives and company values to over 4,500 employees across Scotland. Key duties included: - moderation of company-wide intranet;- content management, copywriting and editing weekly newsletter; - copywriting for and proofing of staff magazine; - production of written press releases, articles, reports and staff notices;- provision of external/internal communications support for multi-departmental projects and events; - monitoring ScotRail’s social media accounts and assisting the social media team in framing responses/posts/tweets;- updating various sections of the company’s website via CMS; and - administering department budgets. Key achievements included:- working on new, creative and effective communications with staff to continually improve engagement scores year-on-year from 2009 until leaving the post.- leading a three-phase relaunch of ScotRail’s employee recognition scheme, including rebranding and designing a new awards framework, launching and organising the first annual staff awards ball and gradually introducing a new digital element of the scheme.- successfully implementing a structured system for recording budgets across internal and external communications functions, and successfully negotiated budget increases with the senior finance team on a yearly basis.
