Apart from my IT passion I have a fishing passion, somewhere way down on page eleven of my fourteen page CV (yes 14 and it still grows!) it gets a tiny mention however it is a big thing for me, a way to empty my head and just take in the scenery and nature. As with my IT, I have always been keen to learn new things and adopt new techniques. This will not make much sense to you if your interest in fishing is close to zero, but fishing like IT is undergoing some evolution, perhaps even revolution. Recreational Anglers (people who fish for recreation with a hook and line) have become more environmentally aware and eco friendly, the organisations that I belong to go out and we clean up beaches, we collect used fishing line for recycling, we promote good practices for fish care and release. We also have less leisure time, often we can just grab an hour or two between other things, so we have light tackle techniques and even 'urban fishing'- small light rods and reels and a small sling to contain artificial biodegradeable baits and a few essential items. Nowadays if you are lucky you can grab an hour to fish around your working day or during the weekend, sit by the river, canal or sea and empty your head.What has it go to do with work? Well I decided that I want to play a more supportive role in recreational angling - a small business and website that informs and educates as well as supplies and supports these modern products. Naturally I chose the best job for myself, I get to do all the techy and creative work, the hard part of shipping out orders falls upon others close to me. Take a look - it is easy on the eye, loads of pictures and a responsive design of course.
