I love to make people shine, whether through writing, editing, or advisement and input, and I love doing it for organizations whose mission resonates with me. My career has been driven by a desire to serve, particularly mission-driven organizations. Early in my career, this meant being a full-time volunteer at an under-21 homeless shelter and then teaching at-risk kids. But for most of my career, I have served by sharing my communications expertise.I do this by amplifying executive voices through clear, evocative writing that articulates key points and positioning in alignment with audience needs and expectations. I also make the content of thought leaders and subject matter experts accessible and compelling, as well as develop original content on their behalf. By carefully crafting the communications, I make others look smart and knowledgeable. This requires being able to nimbly manage often-competing deadlines and priorities by communicating regularly with stakeholders to best understand unique project considerations. I hit those deadlines by tracking needs and diplomatically managing personalities.I make a difference by moving internal conversations forward as an active, collaborative listener building rapport across enterprise then redirecting people back to end goals and organizational mission. By crystalizing ideas into target concepts and researching topics exhaustively, I build balanced perspectives into narratives that achieve communications objectives.I also act as a champion for proper writing as internal mentor, coach, and resource. Providing gentle editing guidance creates true learning opportunities, translating to marked improvement of staff writing skill development and more effective communicators. My desire to never stop getting better as a writer and communicator constantly means evolution and growth to be able to hit the mark and resonate with target audiences.
