Worked with gem5 simulator and evaluated its ability to generate reliable training data for Behavioral Emulation models of notional/future HPC architectures. Experiments ranging in complexity from simple execution of small kernels with default simulation parameters to creation of custom system/cpu models aimed at capturing/predicting performance of the HiPerGator system at Florida were evaluated with several quantitative (e.g., accuracy, speed) and qualitative (e.g., ease of use) metrics.
