Carlos Basabe is an illustrator and digital artist specializing in colorful and vibrant designs for stories, brands and products. Growing up in Cuba, he found an early love for visual storytelling and design after his first brushes with American animated movies and shorts from Disney and Warner Bros. These early influences are still evident in his work, as he strives to strike a balance between the energy of Chuck Jones and Tex Avery shorts with the detail and draftsmanship of Golden Age Disney. A storyteller at heart, he’s recently embarked on a journey to create his own original characters and stories. His first self-published effort, The Sporty Turtle, was released in April of 2016.
