Pinecrest Academy, Inc. is a high-performing charter school network that operates 19 schools in Florida and 5 campuses in Nevada. The organization has a twenty-year proven track record of successfully implementing its vision of raising student achievement while decreasing the achievement gap for disadvantaged student populations. Schools are located in the cities of Miami and Orlando in Florida and Las Vegas in Nevada.

Carlos O. Alvarez has been appointed to serve on the Florida Education Foundation Board of Directors. The Florida Education Foundation is an organization of the Florida Department of Education that invests in high achievement for every student to contribute to Florida’s globally competitive workforce. Mr. Alvarez brings 25 years of experience in education to the organization. He has served in various roles as an educator, including a paraprofessional, a teacher, an assistant principal, a principal of COHEA, Career & Collegiate Academy for 15 years, the Board Chair/President for Pinecrest Academy Inc. and the President & Founder of the CIVICA Network of schools.
