Principal Database Administrator
CurrentSenior member of global DBA team responsible for supporting hundreds of Oracle databases in production, QA and development running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Databases include versions 9i through 19c and range in size from less than 1 GB to many terabytes. Support includes 24x7 on-call rotation for both RAC and standalone databases configured with ASM storage, Data Guard standby and GoldenGate replication. Responsibilities and accomplishments include:• Install and upgrade oracle Grid Infrastructure and database software as well as create databases using dbca.• Apply rolling patches to GI and databases using opatch auto with little to no customer impact.• Review and deploy requested DML/DDL changes to test and production environments.• Upgrade databases to newer versions using dbua, datapump export/import and GoldenGate switchovers.• Create and maintain ASM diskgroups including configuration of ACFS managed mounts.• Create standby databases using rman duplicate from active database.• Support backup and recovery using rman catalog, datapump export/import and flashback restore points.• Create, maintain and schedule shell scripts in crontab to execute commands and SQL and email results.• Troubleshoot and resolve SQL performance issues using Grid Control, AWR/ADDM/ASH reports, SQL explains, sql_trace, autotrace, SQLT, and data dictionary queries. Experienced working with SQL profiles, SQL plan baselines and identifying new indexes needed to reduce IO and improve performance.• Document, test and execute Data Guard and GoldenGate procedures to support switchovers between major data centers in the US, Europe and Japan• Completed infrastructure upgrade projects that required building new RAC clusters, creating databases and configuring GoldenGate replication. Switchovers to new infrastructure was accomplished with little to no downtime using active/active GoldenGate replication. RAC builds included installation of AHF and EM agents.
