High school Spanish teacher responsible for the language development of 100 students in the 12th grade. My courses focus on history, culture, literature and current events of Spanish speaking countries.

Interdisciplinary Studies: College Success

A volunteer position to serve as a representative, recruiter and spokesperson for the Fulbright Program. Working to increase the Fulbright U.S. Student Program’s visibility nationwide and attract a diverse pool of applicants. Ambassadors share their experiences with potential candidates by attending campus presentations, study abroad fairs and conferences, writing articles, assisting with the program's social media efforts, and participating in recruitment webinars. Fulbright Alumni Ambassadors are selected annually through recommendations from Fulbright Commissions and U.S. Embassy staff, area managers, the Fulbright Student Program Outreach Division and are approved by the sponsor of the Fulbright Program, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Develop and manage youth programs for 150 youth in Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood. Founder and current program director of the YIPEE Summer Program, a free summer camp serving 80 children focused on health & nutrition. Manage all requirements required by grantors including the City of Chicago. Manage budget, payroll, accounts payable, vendors, and human resources.

Successfully wrote grants and obtained funding from private foundations, corporations and the federal government to support the organization's community programming. Leveraged over $100,000 for the organization, including $55,000 in federal funds, since 2004. Grant organizations include: Locals Initiatives Support Corporation, Bickerdike Redevelopment, Mikva Foundation, and the Chicago Department of Family & Support Services

Teaching remedial program in Chicago Public Schools during summer 2014. Developing vision and long-term plans based on Illinois standards. Creating daily lesson plans and interim assessments, while tracking and facilitating students’ progress to goals. Fostering positive classroom culture by executing classroom management systems and procedures. Participating in research-based professional development workshops throughout my corps member commitment.

Work closely with the Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) to organize and support all faculty development programs for graduate students and faculty. Oversee all arrangements of programs which are necessary to realize seminars, conferences, and workshops and serve participants. This includes all logistical arrangements, communication with department heads, and all relevant university offices and constituents of programs. Manage the CTL budget, ledgers, and financial reports including maintaining monthly ledgers, monitor program budgets, and prepare financial reports for each program administered by the Center. Make decisions regarding expenditures and services that increase a program’s cost effectiveness without diminishing program quality or student/faculty services. Review program invoices and process payments to UC departments, vendors, and faculty/consultants involved in departmental programs. Supervise all student and part-time workers hired by the CTL.

Assist in the English Teacher Training program at the Universidad Autonoma de Entre Rios in Argentina as part of the Fulbright program. I provide lesson on cultural and political topics related to the United States. This includes political parties, elections, education policy, poverty and immigration issues. A major part of my work is to dispel myths about American culture and provide all with a positive image of the U.S. as a cultural ambassador.

Assist middle school classrooms providing assistance in reading. Lead a guided reading group of 8th graders reading at the 4th grade level. Provide assistance to the school's administration, coordinate major events such as community fairs, book fair, and other special projects as assigned. Translate for families who primarily speak Spanish.

Assist the constituents of the 26th Ward obtain city services.

Led three Spanish conversation classes to provide students with authentic conversation in the target language as they developed their Spanish skills.

Performed receptionist duties such as answering phones, greeting visitors, sorting mail, copying, data entry, faxing, filing and assisting in special projects; development of forms, brochures, catalogs and other promotional material.

Developed an ambitious plan for cause marketing partnership with companies like Visa and Apple. Created copy for promotional materials including one-pagers, emails and resources for our recruitment team. Assisted our team in a variety of projects, including self generated programs and worked independently. Coordinated the religious education program of 250 students, managed a budget of $18,000 and shaped program focus by establishing new guidelines and implementing a new curriculum.
